Sometimes at ITechAcharya.com we have long conversations over email about the best way to help our clients. Infections and malware are always challenging concerns, because they can truly conflict with your capability to work your pc, and are developed to be challenging to recognize and remove! So we spend time considering how to offer the best service getting rid of malware from your pc.
Recently, I was requested whether I thought managing anti-virus applications in Secure Method was the best method. There isn't a very easy solution, but I think most companies that develop anti-virus program or offer malware eradication solutions would take it easy and counsel what I normally (and safely) counsel to everyone here….
Ideally you should run a malware eradication program in Secure Method (without networking) and system and recurring the check and system until there is a period where no malware is recognized.
That said… the idea behind the Secure Method is that the os would only fill your essential applications and individuals to the storage and hence there is a "high" opportunity that the virus-infected pc file is on the generate but not packed into storage. This would allow the AV to fresh it easily and the next reboot/scan would recognize nothing. There could still be a small opportunity that one of the individuals or applications that are packed by the OS in the Secure Method is contaminated. That's why you need to keep restarting and rescanning to develop sure you've found them all.
The purpose this duplicated procedure works is that a malware could be in your storage and may have contaminated a examined pc file "after" it was reported fresh. This is the purpose most anti-virus applications would check the storage as the first step and eliminate all contaminated procedure. But this doesn't always work… a complicated malware can sometimes conquer the storage check similar to the way it failures laptop file tests. But in almost 100% of the cases the malware will be recognized in the check (in typical mode) and in a scarce situation it may not be possible to fresh it. This will require the system in safe mode to fresh. The storage check over the years has become quite superior and can recognize a malware almost when.
But once in a while a truly terrible malware can defeat even the storage check. Usually that's a quirk or use that gets quickly resolved in the next up-date of the anti-virus program you may use. (So remember to up-date your programs!) For example, the "W32/Sober.r@MM"virus was at first only recognized in the Secure Method but now most malware tests have been "fixed" so that the malware is recognized in the typical mode.
The period and pain that you might go through to run your tests in Secure Method is substantial. In almost every situation, you won't have a malware illness, or if you do, you'll have one that can be recognized and washed in the typical mode.
