If you're participating in a colon cleanse program such as Oxy-Powder, you should be following a particular diet in order to get the most out of your cleanse. The following tips are from Dr. Edward F. Group III, author of The Green Body Cleanse and colon cleansing advocate. According to Dr. Group, it's necessary to understand the body's natural biorhythms in order to structure the most appropriate diet plan. The first cycle is the elimination cycle, and it begins at approximately 4:00 in the morning, ending around noon. During this time, your body tries to purge itself of toxins. It's best to eat fresh fruit during this cycle in order to support your body's natural elimination cycle. Fresh fruit gives your body living matter, which helps to draw out toxins, and also ensure that your intestinal tract is well-hydrated. The second cycle is the energy cycle (between noon and 8 p.m.), which is the time that your body processes and stores food and nutrients. The best way to support your body during this time is to eat fresh, raw veggies as well as a starch source to give your body the energy it needs. The third cycle is the regeneration cycle, which takes place from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. During this time, your body heals and regenerates, meaning that this is when it needs quality sleep. Now that you understand your body's biorhythm cycles, let's move on to the good stuff: exactly what you should be eating during your colon cleanser. Dr. Group recommends that you eat locally grown or organic foods in order to ensure that you're getting the most nutrients as possible. It may be difficult for you to give up those toxic foods that you're used to eating. Try to wean yourself off of them while colon cleansing, eliminating one toxic food and one toxic beverage each week. Thankfully, Dr. Group has put together some sample meals for us to use while planning our colon cleansing diet. He recommends eating five small meals each day. For the first meal of the day, breakfast, Dr. Group suggests eating organic fresh fruit. Don't eat the same fruit for breakfast day in and day out—try to switch them up. For the second meal of the day, your mid-morning snack, Dr. Group gives you four options: 5.     Raw nuts or seeds such as almonds, hemp seeds, sesame seeds, walnuts, and cashews. 6.     Organic super green food supplement: Ingest an organic green powder mix (chlorella or wheat grass supplement) with 20 ounces of water. 7.     Organic goji berries. 8.     Organic avocado: squeeze fresh lime juice over it for a kick. The trick is to alternate these four options. For example, go for #1 on Mondays, #2 on Tuesdays, #3 on Wednesdays, and so on. For your third meal of the day, lunch, eat a meal of veggies and starch. Select two to three alkaline veggies such as kale, romaine, or spinach and combine into a delicious salad dressed with organic salad dressing. Choose two or three starchy foods to accompany your salad, such as beans, oatmeal, seven grain bread, cauliflower, brown rice, or whole grain pasta. For your fourth meal, your mid-afternoon snack, you have the same option that you had for your mid-morning snack. For your fifth meal, dinner, you want a full meal of vegetables, protein, and fat. Before eating anything else, enjoy a fresh vegetable salad with a couple of tablespoons of hempseed oil or flaxseed oil thrown in to give your body those fatty acids it needs. Here are some options for healthy protein: •     Cold-water fish such as halibut or cod •     Cottage cheese •     Rabbit •     Legumes •     Eggs •     Hemp Milk There you have it! A sample meal plan along with all the information you need in order to make wise diet decisions while you're colon cleansing.
